5.1.5. USING QuickTune™ FREQUENCY SELECTION
The KLX 135A gives you the ability to look up an airport VHF
communication frequency from the navigation data base and load it
directly into to COMM transceiver. That way, you don’t have the risk
of getting the wrong frequency or making a tuning error. The
QuickTune™ function is accessible on the Airport 4 (APT 4) page.
You may also use the Active 4 (ACT 4) page, if the active waypoint is
an airport (see section 4.2.3).
To tune a COMM frequency from the data base:
1.
Use the right outer and inner knobs to locate the APT 4
(or ACT 4, if the active waypoint is an airport) page for the facility
you desire to communicate with
(figure 5-6). The APT 4 page
displays the frequency type
(TWR = Tower Frequency,
GRND = Ground Control, PCL =
Pilot-controlled Lighting, etc.) and
frequency.
2.
Press the
B
button to turn the
cursor on and use the right outer
knob to scan through all the
airport’s frequencies (figure 5-7).
There may be more frequencies
than can be displayed at one
time.
3.
When you have the cursor over
the desired frequency, press
F
and that frequency will become
the standby frequency in the
COMM transceiver (figure 5-8).
The cursor turns off automatical-
ly.
NOTE: QuickTune™ frequency selection may also be used to select
nearest Flight Service Station and ARTCC/FIR frequencies in the
same way. To access these pages, press the
C
and
F
buttons,
then select the FSS? or CTR? option, as desired.
