Prerequisites for the Upgrade
Cautions and Warnings
Technical Support
The Customer Bulletin that you received announcing this software update explains the
various Technical Support options you have, and the fees associated with each.
If your system is not in warranty and is not covered by a service contract, you will be
charged for any service calls related to installing this patch, including Remote Access.
If, at any time while executing Chapter 3 of this procedure, you encounter an error, please
follow the instructions in
on page 24 before calling Technical Support.
Upon completion of installing this software update yourself, Welch Allyn would like to
hear from you. Informing Welch Allyn about your software update provides the easiest
way to support your system in the event of a future service need. Additional information
can be found in
System Requirements
For this software update to be applied, the following requirements must be met:
•
Each System (individual computer) must have a working CD-ROM drive installed.
•
Each System to be upgraded must have a minimum of 450 Megabytes of free space
in the /export/home partition.
•
Each System to be upgraded must also have a minimum of 350 Megabytes of free
space in the / or root partition.
Caution Read this entire document before taking a single action on the Central
Station or System.
Caution Mis-typing or skipping any of the instructions in this document may
render your System inoperable. If the System is out of warranty and not covered
by a Service Contract, any support from Welch Allyn to recover from mistakes
made during this process will incur a per-incident fee.
Caution Plan for a period of up to 20 minutes for each System, where the
system will be completely unavailable for central monitoring.

The log file may also be printed if you desire a printed record of the results of the
patch for your files.
