2. At the password: prompt, enter the system root password and press the Enter key. If
you are unsure what the root password is, contact Welch Allyn Technical Support at 1-
800-289-2501 Option1.
3. The system now displays # as the prompt. This prompt is where all commands are
typed. The system returns to this prompt after each command.
Mounting the upgrade CD
To mount the Upgrade CD:
1. Locate the CD-ROM drive on the CPU and press the eject button to open the tray
2. Insert the CD.
3. Press the eject button again to close the CD-ROM Drive.
4. Wait until the light on the CD-ROM drive stops blinking.
5. Type vold& and press Return.
6. Type mountall and press Return.
7. Type cd /cdrom/cdrom0 and press Return.
Note Nothing displays on the screen while you type the root password. The system
gives no indication that you have typed anything until after pressing Enter.
You must type the root password in perfect sequence. Do not use the Backspace
or Delete keys to make a correction.
If you have made a typing mistake, simply press Enter and begin at Step 1 again.
Note The ampersand (&) at the end of this command is critical. From this point forward
wherever that character is shown in the instructions, you must type it.
Note The last character in this command is a zero (0) not an upper-case O. Unless
specified, assume every character of this type is a zero.
