WARNING - This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and/or other
reproductive harm. Thoroughly wash hands after installing, handling, cleaning, or otherwise touching this product.
CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK, MAKE CERTAIN THAT
THE POWER SUPPLY IS OFF BEFORE INSTALLING OR SERVICING THIS FIXTURE!
1. Install the fixture in the ceiling using the hanger bars (supplied), or mounting channel or bars
(by others) placed in the adjustable mounting brackets. Mount the fixture in the ceiling so that
the weight of the fixture is supported by the hanger bars, mounting channel, bar, and/or hanger
wires secured to the building structure. NOTE: Make sure the Battery Backup Unit and bracket
are mounted as shown in FIG. 1, and the mounting tab is securely held between the plaster
frame and the hanger bar mounting bracket.
2. Adjust the fixture so the bottom of the plaster flange opening is flush with the finished ceiling
line and in alignment with adjacent fixtures. Secure the mounting brackets by tightening wing
nuts on either side of the fixture.
3. Determine where the supply wiring conduit will enter the J-Box and
attach it in conformance with the National Electric Code and local codes.
4. Remove the J-Box cover plate. Remove the appropriate knockout and assemble the
appropriate connector for the supply wire used. Connect the ground wires to the green ground
leads. Connect the white (common) to the white (leads). Connect the power supply (line) to the
appropriate leads as per the Battery Backup Installation Instructions included with the fixture.
Reinstall the J-Box cover. WARNING: DO NOT pinch wires between the J-Box/ballast
cover and the J-Box. Consult a qualified electrician for all other options
that require other wiring configurations.
5. Pull the test switch assembly (1) down through opening in the fixture.
This assembly comes pre-adjusted for 6LFSQLED7 EM heat sinks (3” tall).
If this is to be installed on a 6LFSQLED5 EM heat sink (2” tall), loosen the
two adjustment screws (2), slide the switch bracket to the top of
the slots and retighten the screws. (SEE FIG. 1)
6. Insert the test switch assembly into the large fin slot (3) in the heat sink,
aligning the switch button with the hole in the reflector (4). (SEE FIG. 1)
7. Tighten the two screws (5) at the top of the assembly until it is flush with the top of the heat
sink and make sure the test button is centered and protrudes through the hole into the
reflector. Press the switch button to assure it does not bind and is functioning properly. (SEE
FIG. 1)
8. Pull the electrical cover (6) down through the opening in fixture. (SEE FIG. 1)
9. Compress each of the two torsion springs (7) and insert the spring ends into the two
brackets (8) on the plaster frame. (SEE FIG. 1)
10. Insert connector (9) into module (10) and snap electrical cover (6) onto module assembly.
(SEE FIG. 1)
11. Push trim assembly up towards ceiling until springs draw trim firmly against ceiling.
CAUTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MODIFY OR REWIRE FACTORY INSTALLED
WIRING ON THE FIXTURE. SAFETY AND PROPER OPERATION OF THE FIXTURE
DEPEND ON THE INTEGRITY OF THE WIRING.
THE PRODUCT MUST BE INSTALLED BY A PERSON FAMILIAR WITH THE
CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF THE PRODUCT AND THE HAZARDS
INVOLVED, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE INSTALLATION CODE.
