Connect CAT5 Inputs

Echo control stations installed for use with Category 5 control wire for the EchoConnect station bus are
supplied with an EchoConnect Cat5 Station Termination Kit. This termination kit includes an additional
set of instructions, insulation displacement connectors (IDC) and the Cat5 Cable Preparation for IDC
Termination Kit (ETC part number 4100A1013). The last station in the control run will not require use of
the second IDC connector provided in this IDC termination kit. Use the extra connector to terminate the
station data run to this termination tray.

Reference the termination information that is detailed in the Cat5 Cable Preparation for IDC Termination
Setup Guide
(included with the station termination kit).

Step 1:

Connect the prepared Cat5 cable to any of the 16 available Cat5 input receptacles on the
termination tray.

Step 2:

Repeat for each EchoConnect station data run in the system.

Connect EchoConnect to the Station Power Supply

Step 1:

Remove the six position screw connector from the termination tray.

Step 2:

Strip 3/8” (9-10mm) from each wire on the provided white/black twisted pair.

Step 3:

Insert the white wire into the data + terminal and the black wire into the data - terminal and
tighten the screws firmly onto each wire.

Step 4:

Replace the connector to the board.

Step 5:

Remove the two position screw connector from the rear panel of the Echo Rack Mount
Station Power Supply.

Step 6:

Insert the white wire into the data + terminal and the black wire into the data - terminal and
tighten the screws firmly onto each wire.

Step 7:

Replace the connector to the rear panel.

Connect ESD Ground

Step 1:

Connect the ground wire (provided) with the Faston connector to the spade terminal on
the termination tray.

Step 2:

Strip 3/8” (9-10mm) from the bare end of the ESD ground wire.

Step 3:

Loosen a screw terminal on the ground bar located on the rear panel of the Echo Rack
Mount Station Power Supply.

Step 4:

Insert the wire into the terminal then tighten the screw firmly onto the wire.
