Open the decomposition vessel and check the crucible for any signs of incomplete
combustion. If combustion was not complete, the results of the experiment must not
be used for calibration. The experiment must be repeated.

Clean the decomposition vessel as described in Section 10.4 (or the Operating In-
structions for decomposition vessel C 5010/C 5012) and prepare the next experi-
ment.

Perform a number of calibration experiments for each decomposition vessel as de-
scribed in Section 9.1 “Charging the decomposition vessel with the calibration sub-
stance” and Section 9.2 “Calibration”, steps 1 - 7. For the number of calibrations
required, refer to standard in use. For example, DIN 51900 recommends at least
5 calibrations.
