Use the unit’s Wi-Fi
Direct™ function
(MCS-838/MCS-434/MCS-FS232 only)
:L)L'LUHFWLVDIXQFWLRQWKDWDOORZVWKHXQLW
and mobile device to be directly connected
together without the need for a wireless LAN
router. Installing a DLNA based application on
your mobile device will allow you to playback
on the unit photos, music and video files saved
on your mobile device.
Note
‡ You can only connect one mobile device to the unit
at a time with this function. If you want to connect
a different mobile device, you will first need to
disconnect the one that is currently connected.

Display the Wi-Fi Direct mode
screen
1. Press 1 STANDBY/ON and the power
to the unit will come on.
The Pioneer logo will be displayed on the TV
screen.
2. Press to display the Wi-Fi Direct
mode screen.
y Settings to connect the unit and mobile
devices will be started from this screen.
y This screen will also be displayed while
the unit and your mobile device are

y Closing this screen will terminate the
:L)L'LUHFWFRQQHFWLRQ
Caution
y If the Pioneer logo is not displayed, please
check the following.
– If the unit is playing back, press the STOP
and stop playback. After stopping playback,
press the STOP again and cancel resume
playback.
– If the Home Media Gallery or Home Menu
are displayed, press HOME MENU and close
the displayed screen.

or AUX input is selected, press HOME MENU
twice.
Connect to mobile device
This is the normal method you should use to
connect.
First display the Pioneer logo on the TV screen,
then press WRGLVSOD\WKH:L)L'LUHFWPRGH
screen.
1. Under the “Wi-Fi Network Settings” on
your mobile device, select the device
name “DIRECT-xxBD” for this unit as
displayed on the TV screen.
The “xx” shown here stands for the unit’s
identification code.
Caution
y If the name of the unit “DIRECT-xxBD” does not
appear on your mobile device, press RETURN
on the remote control and then the button
DQGSHUIRUPWKHFRQWUROVDJDLQIURPWKH:L)L
Direct Mode Screen.
2. Enter the password “xxxxxxxx” for the
unit as shown on the TV screen into
your mobile device.
The connection is then complete.
