Bolting the Seismic Rack to a Raised Floor
WARNING!
An unsecured rack is prone to tipping. This rack is designed to be bolted to a floor.
Because the rack has no other provisions to prevent tipping, never use it without first bolting it to
the floor. Failure to do so can result in product damage and serious personal injury or death.
The site floor structure and any raised flooring (if used) must be able to support the total weight of
the installed computer system as well as the weight of the individual cabinets and their enclosures
as they are moved into position.
Describing how to build a raised floor that can accommodate the weight of the rack, that meets
all NEBS standards, and that complies with local regulations is beyond the scope of this manual.
These requirements must be investigated by the customer or the customer’s installation provider.
The customer assumes all risk in using the seismic rack on a raised floor.
For your site’s floor system, consult with your HP site preparation specialist or an appropriate floor
system engineer.
You must bolt the seismic rack to a raised floor using the anchors provided.
1.
Lay a level across the top of the rack. If the rack is not level, adjust the feet accordingly using
a 5/16-inch Allen wrench. While adjusting the feet, continue to monitor the level, checking
each side of the rack after the adjustment of each foot. Ensure that all leveling feet contact the
raised floor.

Ensure that the kickplate cover at the bottom of the rack is removed to provide access to the
anchor holes. If the kickplate hasn't been removed, see
“Removing the Kickplate” (page 24)

Locate the anchor drip trays that were provided in the hardware kit and position them over
the anchor holes in the base of the rack such that the large hole in the tray aligns with the
anchor hole in the raised floor. You might have to flip over the tray.
4.
For the seismic rack: Install the blank drip trays provided in the hardware kit over unused
anchor holes in the base of the rack using the provided nuts.
5.
Place the anchor bolt with washer kit into the anchor holes. See

proper stackup.
