3.
Load the drill bit:
a.
Unlock the chuck on the rotary hammer drill.
b.
Insert the concrete drill bit in the chuck.
c.
Lock the chuck.
4.
Set the depth gauge on the hammer drill for 102 mm (4 inches). M12 anchor hole depth must
be 102 mm (4 in.)
5.
Move the side handle of the hammer drill to a convenient position and tighten in a clockwise
direction.
6.
Place the vacuum cleaner nozzle near the hole marked for drilling and tape it into position
or have another person hold it in position.
NOTE:
The vacuum cleaner should be on during drilling to prevent dust from falling into
nearby equipment. You might also need some other method of preventing airborne concrete
dust.
7.
Set the tip of the drill bit on the drilling surface with slight pressure before activating the drill
motor. The drill will not hammer if you start the motor before making contact with the drilling
surface.
NOTE:
Use only moderate pressure while drilling. Excessive pressure interferes with drilling
efficiency. Take care not to allow the drill to drift away from the position marked on the floor
and ensure that the hole is drilled straight down.
8.
Drill the hole until the depth gauge makes contact with the floor.
9.
Repeat the above steps to drill the remaining holes.
10. Use the vacuum cleaner and the rubber bulb to remove all debris from the holes.
11. If the anchors are not to be installed immediately, cover the holes with tape to prevent debris
from falling into them.
Preparing the Rack Floor Anchors
1.
Ensure that the holes in the floor are free of all debris.
2.
Follow the Hilti kit installation procedures included with the hardware.
3.
Loosen the nut and remove the threaded rod.
4.
Repeat this procedure for all anchor holes.
Unpacking and Moving the Seismic Rack
The seismic rack is shipped on a wooden pallet and protected on the top and sides by wooden
panels. For information on the weight of the rack, see
To unpack and move the seismic rack:
