Unpacking area: When moving the cabinet off the shipping pallet, you need approximately 9 feet
(2.74 meters) on one side of the cabinet to allow you to slide the pallet out from under the cabinet
after the cabinet has been raised on the casters.

Seismic Rack Ground Connections

The seismic rack requires its own ground connections to the site ground. There are two ground
connections at the center of the top front and the center of the top rear of the cabinet. These are
designated with the ground symbol:

ai046

NOTE:

When grounding the cabinet:

Always use a cable of the same AWG as the power conductors.

Coat bare connectors with antioxidant before making any crimp connections.

Intracabinet Grounding for Seismic Racks

Each seismic rack has two grounding rails at the rear of the cabinet in front of the mounting rails.
Grounding rails are covered by metal foil in the seismic rack and conductive paint in the R2 rack.
Ground cables are green with a yellow stripe and are used to connect an enclosure to the cabinet
grounding rail. Green hex-head ground screws and star washers secure the green ground cables
to the grounding rail. For detailed information about intracabinet grounding, see

“Intracabinet

Grounding for Seismic Racks” (page 38)

.

Enclosures in the cabinet must each have their own ground connections to the cabinet grounding
rail. For specific ground connections for an enclosure, see the specification for the enclosure.
