A Upgrading to StoreOnce software, version 3.11.x

StoreOnce software version 3.11.0 introduces a major change to the way the network is configured.
Version 3.11.0 software supports a more flexible network environment than earlier software
versions, allowing connection to up to three subnets without VLAN tagging. If VLAN tagging is
enabled, up to 128 VLAN subnets may be configured. StoreOnce software version 3.11.0 also
provides support for Data In Flight Encryption using the IPsec protocol. Upgrading to StoreOnce
software version 3.11.0 will automatically convert the old network model (that used templates) to
the new model (that uses a network configuration file) as part of the upgrade process

NOTE:

VLAN tagging is not enabled by default on upgrade. On a new installation it can be

enabled when running the StoreOnce CLI command, net set wizard, to configure the network.
On existing installations it can be enabled by using StoreOnce CLI commands to create or modify
portsets and subnets in the configuration, as described in this chapter.

DHCP and IPv6 are not supported with StoreOnce software version 3.11.0.
Network configuration applies to ALL nodes in the cluster. It is not possible to configure different
subnets on individual nodes.
There is ONE default gateway which can be on the management or data subnet and is defined
when a subnet is set as the default subnet. The management virtual IP address should be on the
same subnet as the management physical ports but there is no longer a requirement for contiguous
IP addresses.

IMPORTANT:

When configuring the StoreOnce Backup system for the first time, HP strongly

recommends the use of the StoreOnce CLI command, net set wizard. However, do not use
this wizard to reconfigure the network because it will overwrite the current configuration. Best
practise is to create a copy of the current configuration and modify that before making the changes
active.

Previous networking models

Software prior to 3.11.0 provided five network templates; the StoreOnce Backup system was
configured with the one that was most suited to the environment and the template could not be
modified. These templates for network configuration supported connection to a maximum of two
subnets and VLAN tagging was not supported.

IMPORTANT:

The template networking model is only applicable to StoreOnce B6200 and 6500

Backup systems running StoreOnce software prior to 3.11.0. It is completely redundant for all
systems running software post 3.11.0.
