If the Backup System runs out of space (page 131)

Software update process

Software updates can only be performed through the StoreOnce CLI using the Admin user account.

Software updates are delivered to customers in the form of a single rpm package, which may
contain multiple rpms.

A software update is NOT an online process. Services will shutdown to perform the updates, so
the whole appliance will be offline for a period of time (approximately 30 minutes).

Please refer to the Maintenance and Service Guide for your product and to the detailed release
notes provided with each software release for specific instructions on downloading and performing
a software update.

If the HP StoreOnce Backup system runs out of disk space

A warning message is generated when the HP StoreOnce Backup system reaches 90% capacity.

You can expand storage/fs for the virtual machine up to 10 TB capacity (in multiples of 1 TB vdisks)
if you have not done so already. See the HP StoreOnce VSA Deployment and Configuration guide
for more information. If you are not able to increase actual capacity, you may still be able to create
additional space.

Options for creating space include:

Review your backup jobs to see if you can reduce the size of backup or retention time.

Use the backup application job settings to overwrite or erase data.

Ensure Housekeeping is running and is keeping up with demand.

Reduced performance using Data in Flight Encryption

If Data in Flight Encryption is configured on the subnet, the system may experience decreased
performance. This is the expected behavior when using the IPsec protocol. View the network
configuration using the CLI net show config command to determine if Data in Flight is
configured; see the HP StoreOnce Backup system CLI Reference Guide.
