Installing a VCR

The optional VCR will be installed on its side in the bottom portion of the
MLM-WB with video tape and front panel access via either the left or right side of
the MLM-WB. Follow the procedures below to mount and cable the VCR.

1.

Determine which side of the
MLM-WB to use for VCR front
panel access.

2.

Install the solid side plate
over the unused VCR
opening (as shown at
right), if it has not already
been done.

Installing A/V and control cables

To reduce electromagnetic interference, the audio/video (A/V) and control cables
should be routed separately from the power supply cord.

1.

Feed the A/V and control cables through the large rectangular opening in the
MLM-WB’s rear panel or through the top of the enclosure (through an
existing hole or a custom-made one).

If you route cables through the top of the MLM-WB, install a conduit
through the remaining hole or a custom-made hole.

For either top or rear panel cable installation, an additional junction box
and cable clamps or cable ties (for strain relief) are recommended.

Allow enough cable inside the MLM-WB to permit the door to open fully
when cabled equipment is installed.

The installer is responsible for providing the conduit and fittings. They are
not provided by Extron.

2.

Exposed cable shields (braids or foil) are potential sources of short circuits.
Trim back and/or insulate shields with heat shrink.

To prevent short circuits, the outer foil shield can be cut back to the point
where the cable exits a cable clamp. Both braided and foil shields should be
connected to an equipment ground at the other end of the cable.
