International Junction Box
Mounting Plate
Junction
Box
3.
Place the junction box you plan to use against the front (refer to the picture
below) of the international junction box mounting plate, and mark on the
plate the locations for the junction box’s mounting screws. Set the box aside.
4.
Drill pilot holes for the mounting screws in the marked (indicated by + in the
illustration) locations on the mounting plate.
5.
Fasten the new junction box to the
mounting plate, hand tightening the
screws. See the picture at right.
6.
Place the mounting plate (with junction
box) over the bolts and against the back
wall of the MLM-WB enclosure, and
secure the plate to the MLM-WB with
the nuts you set aside in step 1. See the
illustration at right.
Installing power cables and receptacles
1.
Remove a punch-out tab from one of the openings in the junction box.
•
Remove a rear punch-out tab if the power cable will be routed in from
behind the MLM-WB.
•
Remove one of the top punch-out tabs if the power cable will be inserted
via a conduit through the top of the MLM-WB.
2.
If needed, install a 3/4” (1.9 cm) or 1” (2.5 cm) outer diameter conduit
through one of the holes at the top of the MLM-WB’s outer enclosure. Use
standard fittings to secure it to the junction box inside the MLM-WB.
The installer is responsible for providing the conduit and fittings. They are
not provided by Extron.
If the other hole in the top of the MLM-WB’s outer enclosure will not be used
for A/V and control cables, insert an installer-supplied plug into the unused
hole.
3.
Disconnect the power cable from the power source by turning off the circuit
breaker or removing the circuit’s fuse.
4.
Insert the power cable through the punch-out hole and into the junction box,
and secure the cable with cable clamps to provide strain relief.
5.
If necessary, cut off the receptacles’ mounting strap tabs (ears) so the fronts of
the receptacles fit snugly against the back side of the junction box cover.
6.
Secure each duplex receptacle to the junction box cover.
7.
Connect the ground wire to the junction box and to the grounding poles of the
two duplex power receptacles. Ring terminals may be required for each lead.
Improperly grounded or ungrounded receptacles can allow electrical
shocks, which can damage equipment and cause injury.
Receptacle installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in
accordance with national and local electrical codes.
8.
Connect the neutral and hot (positive) supply wires to the corresponding
poles on the receptacles. Refer to the instructions that came with the
receptacles, and wrap/insulate any exposed wires.
9.
Place the receptacles into the junction box, and secure the cover to the box.
10.
Reconnect the power (turn on the circuit breaker or replace/insert the fuse).
