Approach
Example 6 -
Procedure
Turn 1
This example uses a flight plan from Roseburg, OR
(5S1) to Medford, OR (MFR) to demonstrate how to
recover when you overshoot the point where you need
to place sequencing on hold (Point B). If you cross an
IAF
without
suspending
sequencing
(pressing
OBS/HLD), the Apollo GX will automatically
sequence to show MA14 as the next TO waypoint.
However, for this approach you must perform a
procedure turn first. You must then reset your course
to take you through the procedure turn. Reset the
course for the procedure turn by selecting OED as the
reference waypoint for an OBS DTK course of 153°.
The example also illustrates a procedure turn when
the IAF and FAF use the same point (IFAF). The
example uses the VOR DME 14: OED approach.
