Setting Up

This chapter describes how to power on your server using the system controller
command-line interface (LOM prompt), how to set up the SC using the

setupnetwork

command, and how to boot the Solaris Operating System.

Setup Process

The major steps you must perform to power on and set up the server are as follows:

1. Installing and cabling the hardware.

2. Applying external power to the hardware.

3. Setting the date and time for the system.

4. Setting the password for the SC.

5. Setting up system-specific parameters with the

setupnetwork

command.

6. Powering on all hardware with the

poweron

command.

7. If the Solaris Operating System is not preinstalled, installing it.
