Symptom
Unable to record into HDD.
CD Auto Recording cannot be
done correctly.
CD Auto Recording does not start.
Tuner Auto Recording does not
start.
Smart Compression is canceled.
Some mechanical noises are heard
during Smart Compression.
If “Level OVER!” appears in the
main display.
You can erase albums or tracks, but
cannot use other editing functions
such as “COPY,” “MOVE,” etc.
You cannot copy a portion from a
track—“A-B COPY.”
You cannot move a track—
“MOVE.”
Tracks cannot be divided.
Possible Cause
Already 999 albums are created in the
HDD.
•
You have stopped the playback
before the entire disc is played
back.
•
Some of the tracks on the disc are
copy-protected.
•
You have turned on the function
after you started CD playback.
•
CD play is started by Daily Timer .
FM or AM (MW/LW) station is tuned
in by Daily Timer or Recording Timer.
You have pressed
STANDBY/ON
while Smart Compression is performed.
While Smart Compression is being
performed, the internal hard disk is still
rotating at a high speed, causing
imperceptible mechanical noises.
Recording (input) level through the
external component is too high.
There is no space left in the HDD—
“HDD FULL.”
You have tried to copy a portion of a
track of less than 6 seconds long.
You have tried to move a track to
exactly the same position where it now
located.

Already 254 tracks are created in
the album.
•
You have tried to divide the track
(album) in “Library TUNER.”
•
You have tried to divide a track of
less than 7 seconds long.
Action
Erase unnecessary albums.
• This is normal. (For details, see page
45.)
• Use analog recording method (see
page 51).
• To use CD Auto Recording, stop
playback, then restart CD playback.
CD Auto Recording starts.

The unit now goes into standby mode.

functions, first erase unnecessary
albums and tracks to make enough
space in the HDD.

You cannot set a start point within the
first second and set an end point within
the last 5 seconds of a track (see page

Select another track number as the
position to move the track to.
• The maximum number of the tracks
in an album is 254.
Erase unnecessary tracks.
• You cannot divide this track.
To divide this, copy this track to
another library.
• You cannot set a dividing point
within the first 4 seconds and the last
3 seconds of a track.
