7.2 Maintenance of the Sunny String-Monitor SSM8-21 / SSM16-21 /
SSM24-21
7.2.1 Disconnecting the Sunny String-Monitor
Procedure:
1. If there is a load-break switch installed, turn it off. This ensures that there is no current flowing through the
Sunny String-Monitor.
2. If there is no DC load-break installed, disconnect the Sunny Central inverter (see the Sunny Central installation
manual).
If there are fuses in the Sunny Central, remove them (see the Sunny Central installation manual).
or
If there are no fuses in the Sunny Central, remove the fuses in the DC main distributor.
7.2.2 Maintenance Interval
• Service the Sunny String-Monitor every 24 months.

Danger to life from electric shock by touching live components of the Sunny String-Monitor
Touching live components results in death or serious injury.
• Observe the safety rules:
– Disconnect the device from voltage sources.
– Ensure that the device cannot be reconnected.
– Ensure that no voltage or current is present.
– Cover or isolate any adjacent live components.
• Only carry out maintenance work if the device is voltage-free.
• Plug in or remove the DC connector only when the device is voltage-free.

Risk of burns from touching hot components
Components can get very hot during operation. Touching hot components can result in burn injuries.
• Wear personal safety equipment when working on the device.
• Do not touch hot components.
• Before touching any components, make sure that they have cooled down sufficiently.

Danger to life due to electric arcs when opening the fuse holders
• Only open the fuse holders in the Sunny String-Monitor when it is switched off.

• Only remove all existing DC connectors when the Sunny String-Monitor is switched off.
