Modifying the Hosts file on the Avid Unity TransferManager or Avid
Interplay system for single send
On each Avid Unity TransferManager or Avid Interplay system, set up the hosts file as
follows:
1. Open the following file using Notepad or some other editor.
C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc\Hosts
2. Enter text in two lines for each K2 or PVS system that is a transfer
source/destination to the Avid.
a. Type the IP address for the control network, then use the TAB key or Space
bar to insert a few spaces.
b. Type the machine name, such as GVMX-d54 . This sets up the host file for
resolving the machine name on the control network. The machine name
cannot have any spaces in it.
c. On the next line, type the IP address for the FTP/streaming network, and
then use the TAB key or Space bar to insert a few spaces.
d. Type the machine name followed by the characters “_he0_0”. Be sure to
use the zero character, not the letter “o”.
Refer to the following example:
192.165.100.20 gvmx-d54
# control network
10.14.129.13
gvmx-d54_he0 gvmx-d54_he0_0
# Streaming network
# Note the PVS does not have alias for the control port and uses _fc0_0.
192.165.100.21 pvs-d10
# control network for PVS client.
192.168.253.21
pvs-d10_fc0 pvs-d10_fc0_0 #Fibre channel network.
