System Configuration
Modifying / verifying the services file on the K2 / PVS
You must enable the Avid Unity TransferManager or Avid Interplay system platform’s
Playback Protocol in the Services file on the K2 or PVS.
NOTE: The Avid Unity TransferManager or Avid Interplay system software will not
transfer to the Profile without these changes.
Usually, the K2Tserver Installer automatically adds the necessary lines to the services
file, however the installers provided for the PVS does not add the necessary lines to
the services files, so this needs to be modified if necessary.
To configure the Services file:
1. Open Notepad on the Profile.
2. Open the Services file located in the following directory:
C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc\Services.
3. Add the following line to the Services file:
com.avid.pbp 6535/tcp
Set up hosts files
IP addresses for Control & FTP/streaming ports must have double name resolution.
FTP/streaming ports hostnames are appended with the “_he0_0” suffix for GigE and
“_fc0_0” for FC ports.
You can use host tables or another mechanism, such as DNS, to provide the name
resolution. This directs the streaming traffic to the correct port.
In most systems, network name resolution is provided by host tables.
The following procedure describes how to set up hosts tables to provide name
resolution for both the control network and the FTP/streaming network.
If you are using other mechanisms for name resolution, use the host table examples
here to guide you.
