Virtual Channels
The
“Virtual” channels may now be implemented solely for multiplexing purposes (see Figure
C.3 below). A 2 channel unit will add 2 additional virtual channels, while a 4 channel unit will
have an addition of 4 virtual channels. The virtual channels add all the channel timer functions
to each virtual channel. The interface layout and functionality is identic al to a normal channel
with the exception that there is no amplitude adjustment. The other main difference is the virtual
channel does not have a physical output as they are primarily used for multiplexing with the
normal channels. This, in turn, allows the 9200 Plus to multiplex all virtual channels through a
normal channel output to create complex pulse trains. For example, on a 4 channel 9200 Plus
unit, virtual channels E through H may be multiplexed with any of the physical channels A
though C.
