7.4 Hub-Spoke
Configuration
The Hub-Spoke differs from the Point-to-Multipoint configuration in that there are separate satellite
links between the Hub and each Remote site, but a single turboIP-45 is still used at the Hub. Also note
that there is no turboIP-45 at Remote Site 3, this is to illustrate that turboIP-45s can be deployed at
Remote Sites at a future date and still be compatible with the Hub. Sites without a turboIP-45 would
only get partial benefit for turboIP-45 TCP acceleration.
The following table defines the configuration settings for each turboIP-45.
Configuration Parameter
Hub turboIP-45
Remote turboIP-45 (1 & 2)
WAN Transmission Rate
45 Mbps (equal to the total TX
data rates of Hub modems, 25 +
13 + 8 Mbps)
1 Mbps (equal to the TX data
rate of Remote modem.

Selective Acceleration
Selective Acceleration Rules are
required to limit the bandwidth for
all of the traffic destined for a
particular Remote site. The BW
limit would be equal to the TX
data rate of Hub modem that is
linked to the particular site 25
Mbps for Site 1, 13 Mbps for Site
2, and 8 Mbps for Site 3.
No Selective Acceleration Rules
are required. Rules could be
added to prioritize or set BW
limits on types of traffic.
Route Table
No Route Table entries are required. Routes could be added to allow
remote access from outside of LAN subnet.
