U-Boot Firmware
5.1
Overview
The ATCA-F120 uses the boot loader software U-Boot (current version V1.1.6). U-Boot is open
source software based on a GPL license model and is the first software to be executed on the
ATCA-F120 after powering up the blade. It is stored in the boot flashes and its main functions
are:
Initialize the hardware
Pass boot parameters to the Linux kernel
Starting the Linux kernel
Update Linux kernel and U-boot images
The following sections describe U-Boot features and procedures which are specific to the
ATCA-F120. For general information about U-Boot, refer to the following website:

5.2
Accessing U-Boot via the Serial Console
Procedure
You can access U-boot via the serial interface connector at the face plate of the ATCA-F120. For
this purpose you need a computer, such as a laptop, with a terminal emulation software such
as HyperTerm running on it. Furthermore, this computer must have a serial interface
connector. The detailed access procedure is given in the following.
1. Connect the serial interface connector of the ATCA-F120 with the serial interface
connector of your computer.
2. Configure your terminal software to use the access parameters that are specified in
U-Boot. By default, the access parameters are as follows:
Baud rate: 9600
Flow control: XON/XOFF
PC ANSI
8 data bits
No parity
