PROBLEM

POSSIBLE SOLUTION

Coax LED on the SBM1400
and SBM1100 adapters is
ON, but Speed LED is OFF
(continued)

• If none of the above steps fixed the Speed LED problem, it

is possible your home coax network has large signal loss
due to long coax lengths, number of coax splitters, or

damaged components. In this case, if the SBM1000
adapters turn ON the Coax LED, but not the Speed LED,
your MoCA network will still function but it will not achieve

optimum data rates.

Coax LED is OFF and Speed
LED is FLASHING when I
connect my MoCA adapter
to coaxial wiring with at
least one other MoCA
adapter connected

If the Coax LED does not illuminate on your MoCA adapter
after following the recommendations listed in

Pre-Installation

Guidelines

, do the following:

• Confirm that the coaxial network configuration parameters

on the MoCA adapter(s) are the same as the rest of the

MoCA adapters on the coaxial network. It is critical that all
the MoCA adapters are configured with the same network

channel and security settings in order to create a network.

• Make sure that all cables are securely connected.

Remember to only hand-tighten the coaxial cables.

• Check that the MoCA adapters are connected to the same

coaxial wiring network in the home.

Video/Audio is distorted or
missing after connecting the
SBM1400 and SBM1100
adapters to my TV or set-top
box

• Check to make sure all the coax connections are tight.
• Power OFF the MoCA adapters to confirm this is the

problem. If the problem still exists, then the splitter may be
defective.

• If turning OFF the MoCA adapters restores the video or

audio, then install a MoCA filter (included in the box)
between the splitter and the TV/set-top box and reconnect
the ECA and retest.

• Try reducing the beacon transmit power of the MoCA using

the SBM1000 Web Admin Interface.
It is highly recommended to not lower the Beacon power
level by more than 9 dB. This is done by selecting a beacon

power level from 10 to 7 in the Beacon Power Level
drop-down list. See

Change the Default MoCA Beacon

Power Level

for more information.

Note

: When reducing the Beacon power, it must be

completed on both SBM1000 adapters. If reducing the
Beacon power does not resolve the issue, it is recommend

that the Beacon power is returned to 10 (default) on both
SBM1000 adapters.
