Configuring the MoCA

Adapters

After installing the SBM1000 MoCA adapters and other network devices, you may have to

change a few default parameters on your MoCA network using the online Web Admin Interface.
Most users will be able to utilize the SBM1000 adapters without making any changes to the

default out of the box configuration.

Prevent Unauthorized Access

To prevent unauthorized access to your SBM1000 adapters, we highly
recommend that you change the default admin password as soon as
possible after logging on the SBM1000 adapters.

It is recommended that you follow these best practices for creating your passwords:
ο Always create a secure password or passphrase that is not easily guessed
ο Use phrases instead of names so that it may be easier for you to remember
ο Use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols
ο Continue to change your administrator and password on a regular basis

Manage Your Passwords

The SBM1000 adapters support two types of passwords:

Administrator Security – Used to log into the web administrator interface. It is strongly
recommended that you change the default admin security password upon your first visit.

The new admin security password can contain any combination of 4 to 20 alphanumeric
characters. Spaces and special characters are not allowed.

MoCA Network Security - Allows you to modify and enable MoCA security for the
MoCA network interface. The network security password allows you to control which

MoCA devices can join your home MoCA network.
The network security password can only contain 12 to 17 numbers. Spaces, alphabetic
characters, or special characters are not allowed. The default password is
99999999988888888.
If network security is disabled (default), then all the devices on the network must also

have the same configuration setting. Likewise, if network security is enabled, then all
devices on the network must also be configured with network security enabled and have
the same network security password.
