Log files and error messages

View the Adobe Media Encoder log file

Adobe Media Encoder provides a log file that lets you view the status of files that you have encoded. The log file is a
plain text file that contains a record of all files encoded, whether successfully completed or not. The encoding status of
each file you encode is appended to the end of the file (placing the newest entry at the end of the file). The log file adds
entries until you manually clear them. To clear log file entries, open the file in a text editor, select all of the entries,
delete them, and save the empty file using the default filename (AMEEncodingLog.txt).

The log file is stored in the following location:

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Media
Encoder\4.0\AMEEncodingLog.txt

Windows Vista: C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\AMEEncodingLog.txt

Macintosh: Macintosh HD/Users/user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Media
Encoder/4.0/AMEEncodingLog.txt

To view the log file:

Select File > Show Log.

The log file is displayed using the default text editing application of the operating system.
