The data field should consist of 9
numeric characters (0 through 9, +, - and
space) terminated with a carriage return
(CR). Leading zeros may be blanked as
spaces and are counted. Non-numeric
characters are ignored and will reset the
input buffer if the data field has not been
filled. Any characters received after filling
the data field and before the carriage return
are ignored.

There are three RS-232 serial ports at the rear of the calorimeter. These ports are designated
Terminal, Printer and Balance. The pin-out of these three ports are identical. The pin-out is
illustrated in the following table.
