56 Volume Bar/Smart Sound
Volume Bar
Usually, the volume bar appears when you press theVOL(ume)
button. If you do not need it, set the VOLUME BAR to OFF. For
example, when you watch a program that is being broadcast with
closed captions, you may choose to set the VOLUME BAR to OFF so
the captions can remain on the screen.The captions will remain on
the screen even when you press theVOL(ume) button or the
MUTE button.

Press the PLAY/A button or the STOP/T button to select
VOLUME BAR, then press the F.FWD/^ button. Each press
of the F.FWD/^- button will turn the VOLUME BAR ON or OFF.

Press the STATUS/EXIT button.
Smart Sound
The Smart Sound feature stabilizes theTV/VCR volume. For example,
when Smart Sound is turned On, the volume will not increase sud­
denly during commercials or loud segments of programming.
The volume will stay at the same level.

Press the COMBI button, then press the SMART SOUND
button on the remote control to select ON (or OFF). The
on-screen display shown below will appear for 10 seconds.
