Target
A target is the data being searched for.
Anchor
An anchor is a heading/keyword near which one or more targets will be found.
Target Search
A target search looks for targets independently of anchors. This is used when the
target being sought is a fixed value or of a fixed pattern and generally has a strong
validation.
Anchor-Target Search
An anchor-target search looks for targets in close proximity to anchors, in other
words, targets near headings or keywords. Targets are only returned if associated
with an anchor, however, by default anchors are returned whether or not a
corresponding target was found.
Exception
An exception is a heading/keyword which, if in close proximity to any anchors or
targets, cause that anchor or target to be ignored. Independent exceptions can be
defined for both anchors and targets.
Regular Expression
Regular expressions are formulas for matching strings that follow a pattern. For
example, a regular expression can be used to specify what a date looks like, without
needing to list all possible dates.
