IV.3 Example Application: Ketchup
In this example, a name brand ketchup was tested and compared to a store brand ketchup. Vi-
sual examination of both products could distinguish no noticeable differences. Both tests were
run under exactly the same conditions using an HBYR-1 Rheometer with spindle V-72. See
Figure IV-3 for the test set up.
Significant differences between the name brand and the store brand can be characterized by
such a test as shown in Figure IV-4. Both the slope of the stress/strain curves and the yield
points are clearly different.
