Dealing With Problems

# When the display freezes
When the display freezes while an application is running, close the application with the
following procedure. However, the contents of all work that were not saved will be lost.

Press
rctrD + (3D + (BE)
The [Close Program] window is displayed. It may take time before the window is
displayed depending on the application. If there is no display after a period of 30 sec
onds, proceed to Step

.
(D Click the application for which [No response] is shown from the list of
applications, and then click [End Task}.
(3) When the confirmation message for “Close” appears, click [Close].
The selected application will be forcefully closed. It may take about 20 to 30 seconds
until the application is closed.

If the [Close Program] window is not displayed or the application^__________
cannot be ciosed after a period of more than 30 seconds, press [ Ctrl ]+
(3D
+1 Del) again.
The computer will restart.

If the computer does not restart even after pressing
fctrD + caD + fPin
two or
three times, press the reset button below), or turn the power oft', and then turn it
back on several seconds later. Please note that you will loose all unsaved data in the
applications that were running at the time of the freeze.
With a dull pointed object, press the reset button.
(Do not use an implement that bends/breaks easily like a
pencil.)
The computer will be forcefully shut down.
After the computer shut down, turn it on again.

To prevent the erroneous execution of an application
Confirm that there is enough free space on the hard disk.
When a lot of applications arc open, close those applications that arc unnecessary.
Be sure to click within the appropriate frame.
If the Microsoft ScanDisk program runs
After an application is forcefully closed or the computer is restarted, there arc cases
where
the
screen
becomes
blue
and
the
scandisk
program
executes.
The
Microsoft
ScanDisk program functions to check Windows and the state of the hard disk. If an error
is found by the Microsoft ScanDisk program, follow the on-screen message.
