Note
The guard column may only be installed after the initial start-up (see
Chapter 3.1, page 69) of the instrument. Until then, use the
6.2744.040 coupling instead of the guard and separation column.
Connecting and rinsing the guard column
1 Connecting the guard column
Caution
When inserting the guard column, always ensure that it is inserted
correctly corresponding to the flow direction (if indicated).

Remove locking caps and/or stoppers from the guard column.

Fasten the lower end of the guard column with a 6.2744.070
short PEEK pressure screw to the column input capillary .

Fasten the connection capillary (3.4224.240) enclosed with the
guard column to the upper end of the guard column with a
6.2744.070 short PEEK pressure screw.
Guard columns are also available which can be screwed with the
upper end directly onto the separation column.
2 Rinsing the guard column

Place beaker under the outlet capillary of the guard column.
■
Start the high pressure pump and rinse the guard column approx.
5 minutes with eluent. Set the flow according to the correspond-
ing column information sheet.

Switch off the high pressure pump again.
