Residual hazards
Protection of persons
ƒ
Before working on the regenerative power supply module, check that no voltage is
applied to the power terminals.
– After mains disconnection, the power terminals +UG, −UG remain live for at least
3 minutes.
ƒ
The operating temperature of the heatsink at the regenerative power supply
module is > 70 °C:
– Skin contact with the heatsink results in burns.
ƒ
All pluggable terminals must only be plugged on or removed when no voltage is
applied!
Device protection
ƒ
Cyclic connection and disconnection of the supply voltage can overload and destroy
the input current limitation of the connected regenerative power supply modules:
– Allow at least 3 minutes between disconnection and reconnection!
ƒ
The regenerative power supply module has no overload protection:
– The rated current and maximum current values specified in the technical data
must not be exceeded.
ƒ
If the DC−bus voltage increases during the feedback operation by more than 75 V
(EMB9341/EMB9342) or 100 V (EMB9343) above the rectified value of the mains
voltage, the regenerative power supply module will be overloaded. This may destroy
the device.
– For this reason, the feedback operation must be inhibited if the DC−bus voltage
reaches impermissible values.
– For this purpose please follow the circuit proposals (
¶ 124).

Safety instructions for the installation according to UL/CSA
Warnings!
ƒ
Device is live up to 180 s after mains voltage disconnection.
ƒ
Suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering not more than 5000 rms
symmetrical amperes, 480 V max, when protected by CC, J, T or R class fuses
(400/480 V devices).
ƒ
Branch circuit protection has to be provided externally in accordance with
corresponding instructions, the National Electrical Code and any additional
codes.
ƒ
Use 60/75 °C or 75 °C copper wire only.
ƒ
Observe the specifications for fuses and screw−tightening torques in these
instructions.
ƒ
Maximum surrounding air temperature 40 °C.
