TRACTOR PREPARATION
WARNING
BE SURE REMOTE COUPLERS ARE
SECURELY MOUNTED TO TRACTOR
FOR PROPER FUNCTION OF SAFETY
DISCONNECT FEATURE.
4-2.1
Prior to attaching the implement the tractor
should be prepared as follows:
a. Check fluid level in the tractor hydraulic sys-
tem reservoir. Additional fluid may be required
after charging the implement hydraulic cir-
cuits.
b. Add front frame and wheel weights as
needed to maintain stability on hillsides and
when transporting the implement.
c. Tractor tires should be inflated and ballast
added according to the tractor operator’s
manual.
d. Use a tractor with adequate horsepower.
See Section 2 for specifications.

Drawbar
a. If tractor is equipped with a swinging draw-
bar, allow drawbar to swing. Lock drawbar in
center position for transport only.
b. Adjust tractor drawbar height to approxi-
mately 17” (45 cm) above ground, as meas-
ured from top of drawbar.

Before taking your implement to the field
the following procedures should be done.
a. Check all hardware for proper tightness.
When the machine is new the hardware
should be checked every few hours of opera-
tion.
b. Replace worn, broken, or damaged ground
tools.
c. Check tires for proper inflation. Pressure
must be equal in both tires. Check the wheel
lug bolts.
d. Check hoses, fittings and cylinders for any
fraying of hoses or leakage. Replace as re-
quired.
e. Lubricate the machine.
f.
Adjust the hitch to the correct height of the
tractor drawbar (See Sections 3-12 and
3-13).

A HYDRAULIC LEAK. USE A PIECE OF
WOOD OR CARDBOARD. HYDRAULIC
FLUID ESCAPING UNDER PRESSURE
CAN PENETRATE THE SKIN CAUSING
SERIOUS INJURY.

OPENINGS IN THE SKIN AND MINOR
CUTS ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO INFEC-
TION FROM HYDRAULIC FLUID. IF IN-
JURED BY ESCAPING FLUID, SEE A
DOCTOR AT ONCE. WITHOUT IMMEDI-
ATE MEDICAL TREATMENT, SERIOUS
INFECTION CAN OCCUR.
