5 Operation
5.1 Turning the instrument on
Perform the following step to turn the instrument On:
 Press the On/Off key (see Fig. 1 on p. 11).
• There will be a short beep and a slight pause, followed by the Galaxy logo on the display.
• The instrument will perform a short Power On self-test.
• Assuming there are no warnings to display, the instrument will display the Main screen. If
error codes or warnings appear, (see Warning messages on p. 39).
5.2 Turning the instrument off
Perform the following steps to turn the instrument Off:
1. Purge the gas analyzer with fresh air by running the pump for approximately 30 seconds or
until the readings have returned to normal levels.
2. Press the On/Off key to turn the instrument off.
5.3 Main screen
The main screen will be displayed after the analyzer has been turned on, and the power on
self-test is complete.
The display will show the name/function of the three soft keys at the bottom of the screen. These
functions are available while you are displaying the Main screen. The functions of the soft keys
change from screen to screen. The Battery Power status icon and the Pump On icon will also be
displayed.

Fully charge the instrument before use.
NOTICE!
Risk of material damage
 Purge the gas analyzer with clean air before you turn it off to ensure that it is free of sample
gas and ready for the next measurement. This is especially important to protect the oxygen
sensor, as it may degrade if the sensor is contaminated with gas when you store the analyzer.
Hint!
If the Auto Off utility (see Settings on p. 20) is set to Yes, the analyzer will turn off automatically
after 10 minutes of non-use.
