Basic still image shooting

Auto adjustment mode
,
Set the mode dial to
, and
turn on the power.
The name of the folder where the image will
be recorded appears on the LCD screen for
approximately five seconds.
•
This camera can create new folders and select
folders to be stored in the disc (page 43).
,
Hold the camera steadily with
both hands and position the
subject in the center of the
focus frame.
The lens portion moves when you turn on
the power.
Do not cover the lens or flash with your
fingers.
•
The minimum focal distance to the subject is
50 cm (19 3/4 inches). To shoot even closer
subjects, use macro recording mode (page 26).

Press and hold the shutter
button halfway down.
The beep sounds. When the AE/AF lock
indicator changes from flashing to steadily
lit, the camera is ready for shooting.
(The LCD screen may be frozen for a split
second depending on the subject.)
The flash automatically pops up and strobes
when the surroundings are dark.
•
If you release the shutter button, the recording
will be canceled.
•
When the camera does not beep, the AF
adjustment is not complete. You can continue to
shoot, but the AF is not set properly (except in
Continuous AF, see page 49).
•
The frame appearing on the LCD screen shows
the focus adjustment range. (For more details
on the AF range finder frame, see page 47.)
