IMPORTANT: Do not select Use Software Installation Account. This option is only applicable for
legacy clients.
IMPORTANT: Do not select Allow users to interact with this program. The sync tool does not
have a user interface. The sync tool runs under the sync host machine account (system account), which
belongs to the SMS Admin group on the SMS site server.
Providing access to the sync host machine to update the SMS database
1. On the SMS Provider machine desktop, right-click My Computer, and select Manage. The
Computer Management window appears.
2. Under Local Users and Groups, select Groups.
3. In the right pane, select SMS Admins.
4. Right-click SMS Admins, and select Add to Group. The SMS Admins Properties window
appears.
5. Click Add.
6. Click domain\synchostmachinename$ or Domain\domain computers, based on
availability.
Adding the sync host machine to software updates
1. In the SMS Administrator console, click Site Database>Software Updates.
