Switching between the Internet and network share to

obtain HP catalog and components

Both the catalog synchronization process and the binaries automatically downloaded using the DSUW

use the same location for obtaining the files. This location is set up during the installation of the inventory

tool. Changing the source location affects both the synchronization and the automatic download process.
To change the source location after the tool is installed:

1.

On the SMS site server, locate and open the hpSyncConfig.xml from the inventory tool installation

directory. The default directory for the file is C:\Program Files\SMS Inventory Tool for HP

Update\PkgSource.

2.

Edit the line containing NetworkShareLocation to contain the correct value:

a.

Change the line for NetworkShareLocation to contain the network share location from where the

files are obtained. See the "SMS site server without an FTP connection (on page

23

)" section for

the appropriate folder structure.

b.

Change the line for NetworkShareLocation to contain an empty string if the files are obtained

directly from the Internet.

3.

Save and close the hpSyncConfig.xml file.

4.

On the SMS Administrator Console, expand the HP Updates from the Package tab, right-click the

Distribution Points for the package, and select All Tasks>Update Distribution Points to be sure

the distribution point is using the updated file.

5.

Re-advertise the HP Updates Sync program or manually run the sync tool to update the SMS

database.
