Spanning Tree Port Configuration Menu Settings

Setting

Description

Port Number

The number of the port for which information is

displayed.

Port Status

The status of the port.

Enabled — the port is enabled and can receive and

forward packets.

Disabled — the port is disabled.

Port State

The current state of the port.

Disabled — the port is disabled and cannot forward

packets; it does not participate in STP operation.

Listening — the port is preparing to forward packets

but has been temporarily blocked to prevent loop.
During the Listening state, BPDUs are transmitted,
received, and processed. The port is included in STP
calculations.

Blocking — the port is not forwarding packets in order

to prevent more than one active path on the network.
The port is included in STP calculations, and BPDUs
can be received, and processed.

Learning — the port is preparing to forward packets

but has been temporarily blocked to prevent a loop.
During this state the switch learns the addresses of all
error-free packets. The port is included in STP
calculations and BPDUs can be transmitted, received,
and processed.

Forwarding — the port is able to forward received

packets. BPDUs can also be transmitted, received, and
processed.

Port MAC Address

The MAC address of the device connected to the port.

Port Priority

The priority of the port. By changing the priority, you

can make the port more or less likely to become the
Root Port.

Port Path Cost

The cost factor assigned to the port. The lower the

assigned port cost, the more likely the port is to be
accessed.
