Contact Protection Circuit for Relay and Transistor Outputs
Depending on the load, a protection circuit may be needed for relay outputs. Choose a protection circuit, from
the following diagrams, according to the power supply.
Connect the protection circuit to the outside of the module for the relay outputs.
RISK OF EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Failure to follow this instruction can result in equipment damage.
Protection Circuit A: this protection circuit can be used when the load impedance is smaller than the RC
impedance in an AC load power circuit.
•
C represents a value from 0.1 to 1 µF.
•
R represents a resistor of approximately the same resistance value as the load.
Protection Circuit B: this protection circuit can be used for both AC and DC load power circuits.
•
C represents a value from 0.1 to 1 µF.
•
R represents a resistor of approximately the same resistance value as the load.
Apply circuit protection to all outputs.
Failure to add a protection circuit can result in the malfunction of the output(s) in the case of
short circuit or overload condition.
