Measuring wear on the wire
In order to gauge whether the wire is worn
circularly, it should be measured periodically
(e.g. every 2 hours)
When measuring the wire determine the
conicity (left-hand illustration) and the run-out
(right-hand illustration). Dimension deviations
should not exceed 0.2 mm.
Countermeasures in the event of a
flattened wire
If it is determined that the wire is worn flat or
non-circularly, immediate action must be
taken:
Turn the wire to a greater degree so that the
beads are moved spirally into the concrete
during cutting. This forced turn makes the
beads round once more.
In addition, the cutting pressure must be
reduced, especially with short wire contact
lengths.
