Swapping the serial ports
The Digital XPoint Matrix Switchers are factory configured for RS-232 use. If you
want to use RS-422 and the switcher is configured for RS-232, or if you want to use
RS-232 and the switcher is configured for RS-422, do the following:
1.
Follow the instructions in “Opening the switcher” to gain access to the
interior of your switcher.

On the switcher’s main circuit board (figure 6-2), locate the RS-232 and RS-422
ribbon cable. Shift the cable to the desired receptacle.

On the switcher’s main board, locate jumper J19. Shift the jumper to the
desired configuration.
4.
Reinstall the switcher’s cover. See “Closing the switcher” on page 6-2.

Attach the power cord to the switcher and to the AC power source. Ensure
that the switcher is working properly.

If the switcher was removed from a rack, remove its power cord, reattach the
switcher to the rack, and reconnect the power cord.

Reconnect the input and output cables.
