10 Firmware/Software Upgrade Procedure
10.1 Overview
This section describes the procedure to use when upgrading any or all of the firmware/software components
in an iRIS 150.
Depending on the reason for the upgrade, not all of the sections described below may apply. However, any
upgrade should always be done in the order shown, with any unnecessary section(s) omitted.
1. iRIS 150 Executive Firmware
2. iRIS 150 Application Software
This section describes the procedures in that order.
Warning!
These procedures have been carried out many times without issue. However, because the process
does involve erasing and reprogramming of flash memory, it is important that a good, securely
connected power supply is provided to the iRIS throughout the upgrade process.
10.2 File Naming Conventions
10.2.1 iRIS Executive Firmware.
The iRIS firmware is available as a single file for downloading and flash upgrading using iLink. The upgrade
file is in the format:
iRIS150_xxx.fls where:
xxx is the firmware version
e.g.
iRIS150_110.fls iRIS Firmware, Version Vj/1.10
The default repository for the firmware files is the “Firmware” folder under iLink.
10.2.2 iRIS Application Software.
The iRIS application software is issued as a single file for downloading into the single program bank using
iLink. The software upgrade files are in the format:
iRIS150_xxx.irs where:
xxx is the software version
e.g. iRIS150_110.irs iRIS 150 Application Software, Version 1.10
The default repository for the program files is the “Programs” folder under iLink.
