There are two green START buttons
Each buttons starts the engine from the battery without the involvement of the control unit,
as it operates directly on the starting motor control relay.
The START 1 button commands the starting motor from battery 1
The START 2 button commands the starting motor from battery 2
Start-up
The START 1 (2) control button starts the motor
No indicator light comes on on the control unit.
Do not hold down the button for any longer than 5 seconds to avoid
damaging the starter relay. If it is necessary to repeat the start-up
operation, release the button and try with the other one. Do not press
both buttons simultaneously or you will damage the batteries.
Switch-off
Switching-off methods:
-
Operate the motor’s mechanical control directly, i.e. the same lever operated by the
electric stop device - refer to the engine instructions manual to identify the exact
position. The switch-off lever (provided by the engine manufacturer) is located in
non-hazardous positions, as this is an occasional, emergency manoeuvre.
-
Press the STOP button on the control unit, if it is working
WHEN APPROACHING THE MOTOR, BE VERY CAREFUL TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL CONTACTS
WITH HEATED PARTS SUCH AS THE EXHAUST, THE MANIFOLD AND THE OIL PAN!
Do not use the emergency start operating mode unless it is strictly necessary, as it is not
possible to use the key to switch off.
SHUTDOWN
The key-operated selector switch has three positions: ”MAN - AUTO – 0”
Normally it is left in the AUTO position with the key removed.
If the selector switch is set to the “0” position the engine cannot be started in automatic
mode; if the engine is already running in manual or automatic mode, it will switch off.
If the selector switch is in the “MAN” or shutdown position “0”, the two
green emergency start buttons are still enabled to start the engine because
they operate the starting relay directly.
The programming instructions for the control unit are supplied along with the electrical
panel.
Incorrect programming of the control unit may preclude the operation of the fire diesel
pump.
