FUEL CIRCUIT
Make sure the filters are clean and, if necessary, replace them.
Fill the fuel tank with automotive diesel engine gas oil (calorific power below 10,200
kcal/kg) in compliance with the directions contained in the engine operator’s handbook.
Check the circuit carefully to make sure that there are no leaks anywhere.
Check the position of the fuel on-off valves
The fuel tank is equipped with a mud collection sump with drain plug
For firefighting diesel pumps according to EN12845:2004 standard, the tanks must be always
full to guarantee continuous operation for at least 6 straight hours.
CHECKS ON OTHER SYSTEM COMPONENTS
Check the correct position and assembly of all the system components, such as the silencer
and exhaust gas pipes, the combustion and cooling air inlet system, the cooling air
evacuation system, etc.
Make sure that the air filters are clean and that the intakes and exhausts are free from
obstructions.
Preparing the battery
The starting batteries supplied with the set are usually low maintenance type and pre-
charged.
If the batteries are not used, their charge can last up to 6 months. After this period the
battery must be recharged. The battery is considered exhausted when the voltage is lower
than 12.4V, but an accurate test can be done using a densimeter.
Recharging the battery
If you need to recharge the batteries, connect the diesel pump electric panel power supply
approximately 24 hours before starting the diesel engine, so the backup battery chargers
situated inside the panel have the time to give an initial charge to the batteries. Set the key-
operated selector switch to the “0” position to prevent any accidental start-ups.
If the battery charge is lower than 10V, the backup battery charger in the panel cannot be
used and the battery must be disconnected for reconditioning or replacement.
The batteries must be mounted on supports, located in an easily accessible position with the
minimum possibility of contamination from fuel, humidity, water or vibrations. They must be
positioned as near as possible to the diesel engine starting motor, subject to all the limits put
in place to minimise voltage drops between the battery and the starting motor terminal.
