Use only components that are suitable for use with fuels and are flame resistant!
The utmost care must be paid to the following operations when setting up the
supplementary part of the system:
-
Anchor the pipes at suitable intervals to prevent resonances, vibrations and deflections
resulting from the weight of the pipe itself, especially if the pipe is made out of copper.
-
Make the fewest possible joints and make sure they are well sealed.
-
The supply pipes operate under a vacuum and are therefore subject to harmful air
infiltration that could prevent the engine from starting.
-
Clean the pipes thoroughly
-
Avoid sudden pipe cross section variations
-
Use wide bend radiuses
To guarantee perfect starting, it is important that the diesel engine tanks are positioned
above the supply pump to allow gravity feed.
Use fuel suited to the type of engine!
For safety reasons, the diesel pump sets are supplied without any fuel, moreover the sets
consume fuel during testing, therefore an adequate reserve of fuel must be provided!
Provide a suitable reserve of fuel!
HEATING
In the case of automatic starting firefighting sets, the room in which they are installed must
be equipped with a heating system for the cold season, to ensure that the ambient
temperature does not drop below +5°C.
The diesel engines used for the diesel pumps utilize thermostatic-control electric heaters
which keep the temperature of the water in the base, or of the engine oil, at acceptable
values for quick starting and drive without trouble for the engine.
ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY
Connect the system to the ground before making any other connection ( Yellow/Green
terminal)
Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds to the voltage shown on the electrical panel
rating plate.
Check that the power supply cable is capable of carrying the nominal current of the set, and
connect it to the relevant electrical panel supply terminals.
