MPEG Settings Summary
This topic lists the MPEG settings required by SpruceUp. See the Video Assets topic for
details on any of these settings.
Note: All assets within a project must use the same Frame Rate (all
PAL or all NTSC). You can mix assets where the other settings are
different, such as MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, resolutions, and bit-rates.
MPEG Type
Both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 types are supported, at the resolutions listed below.
MPEG Structure
Both Elementary and Multiplexed (System or Program) streams are supported (Multiplexed
must have no more than one stereo audio stream).
Bit-Rates
MPEG-1 Video
Up to 1.856mbps (1.15mbps typical)
MPEG-2 Video
Up to 9.8 mbps (typical maximum used is 8mbps)
MPEG-1 Layer 2 Audio
64kbps to 384kbps; 192 kbps and 224 kbps are typical
Dolby® Digital AC-3
64kbps to 448kbps; 192 kbps 224kbps and 448 kbps (for 5.1) are typical
Audio Sample Rate
16 bit 48Khz only
Video Resolution
MPEG-1
SIF (Standard Interface Format): 352x240 NTSC, 352x288 PAL
MPEG-2
Full D-1: 720x480 NTSC, 720x576 PAL
Cropped D-1: 704x480 NTSC, 704x576 PAL (matches analog blanking)
1/2 D-1: 352x480 NTSC, 352x576 PAL
SIF (Standard Interface Format): 352x240 NTSC, 352x288 PAL
Frame Rate
NTSC/525 lines (29.97fps)
PAL/625 lines (25fps)
Aspect Ratio
SpruceUp supports 4:3 only.
Chroma Format
The DVD specification requires a 4:2:0 chroma format.

18 frames NTSC, 15 frames PAL
