General Troubleshooting
Following is a guide to working out any problems you may encounter. For up-to-date
information, please see the SpruceUp Support web site at:
http://www.spruceuserforums.com/SpruceUp
Also take some time and go through the ReadMe file included with this release. It contains
late-breaking information and issues relating to specific configurations. Open the ReadMe
from SpruceUp's folder on the Start menu (Start – Programs – Spruce Technologies –
SpruceUp – ReadMe).
Display Troubleshooting
Video Playback
If you are having problems with playback of video clips within the Clip Properties or
Simulation modes, please try the following:
Note: Please check video playback after each step to determine
improvement or degradation.
1 See if your graphics board or chipset is listed on InterVideo's compatibility list. Visit
the InterVideo support area at www.InterVideo.com.
2 Try lowering the color depth of your display to (pick the term your display uses): High
Color, 16Bit, Thousands of Colors, or 65536 Colors.
3 Try lowering the display resolution to 1024 x 768.
4 Try lowering the refresh rate of your graphics board to 60 Hz.
5 Make sure you are using the latest WHCL certified driver for your graphics board.
6 Make sure you have Direct X 7.0 or later installed. Direct x 8.0 was just released at
the following site (Windows 98, 2000, and ME only):

7 Run the dxdiag.exe application to determine if your display driver is certified, or if any
issues are listed (Windows 98, 2000, and ME only).
Audio Playback
If you are having problems playing back audio from the Clip Properties or Simulation
modes, please try the following:
1 Make sure your audio board supports 48Khz audio playback.
2 Make sure you have the latest drivers for your audio board.
3 Make sure that you have Direct x 7.0 or later installed. Direct x 8.0 was just released
at the following site (Windows 98, 2000, and ME only):

4 Check under your multimedia audio settings to see what the sample rate conversion
setting is - ensure it is set to Best.
Disc/Tape Writing Problems
Many disc writing problems can be caused by trying to write at a higher speed than the
system can maintain throughout the process (buffer under run errors). This is compounded
when writing files across a network or running intensive programs in the background. Try
