12.4.2 WAN to LAN Rules
The default rule for WAN to LAN traffi c blocks all incoming connections (WAN to LAN). If you
wish to allow certain WAN users to have access to your LAN, you will need to create custom
rules to allow it.
See the following fi gure.
12.5 Enabling Firewall
The ordering of your rules is very important as rules are applied in turn.
The default rules allow LAN-to-WAN traffi c and deny traffi c initiated from WAN-to-LAN. You may
block traffi c initiated from the LAN by confi guring blocked services in the Services screen. You
may allow traffi c initiated from the WAN by confi guring port-forwarding rules, one-to-one/many
one-to-one mapping rules and/or allow remote management.
The fi rewall is automatically enabled when you confi gure blocked services. When you confi gure
a remote management menu to allow access to the WR3000 Wireless Router, a fi rewall rule
(WAN-to-WAN) is automatically created.
Click
ADVANCED and FIREWALL to open the Settings screen. Enable (or activate) the fi rewall
by selecting the Enable Firewall check box as seen in the screen on the following page.
