D-VHS RECORDING STEP

Basic recording steps

Notes:
• A D-VHS tape should be used for D-VHS recording.
• The VCR and DSS® box must be connected via a digital A/V cable.
• You may use a blank tape or you may record over a previously recorded
(erasable) tape.
• D-VHS recording will automatically be done in the STD mode. The recording
speed will not appear in the VCR's display.
• Recording may not be possible immediately after the digital A/V cable has been
unplugged or plugged in. Wait for at least 15 seconds and then start recording.

1 Turn on the TV and select the video channel (3 or 4).
Or, if you are hooked up with an audio/video cable, set the TV to AUX or
VIDEO.

2 Insert a blank or erasable tape with the

mark.

The power comes on automatically and the tape indicator lights on the
display.
• If a cassette without its safety tab is inserted, playback starts
automatically, and you cannot complete the record operation.

3 Press the DSS/VCR button on the remote control so that a DSS®
program appears on the TV screen.

• The dSS indicator will light in the VCR's display.

4 Use the DSS® box to select the DSS® channel you want to record.
• The DSS® program will appear.

5 Make sure the D-VHS indicator lights.
